Helping You Find Calm in the Chaos
At Balanced Mind Psychology, we strive to help children, adolescents, and young adults build rich, meaningful lives based on their values and priorities. Understanding what's important to us, who we are, what we feel, and why we feel certain emotions are the backbones of therapy. Patients embark on a journey to find their "wise mind" — exploring life and making changes or decisions based on a balance between our emotions and facts of the situation at hand. Although change can often be crucial to achieving treatment goals, equally as importance is acceptance — acceptance of what we cannot control or our emotions as we are experiencing them in the moment.
We specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBTs), such as exposure therapy, exposure and response prevention (E/RP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed treatment, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Behavioral Parent Training (BPT). Although our therapeutic approach is goal-oriented and rooted in evidence based-practice, we strongly believe in the importance of flexibility and collaboration. Therapy is a team process, with the therapist acting as a "coach" on the sidelines and meeting patients where they’re at in the moment, while also helping them work towards their goals based on core values. When working with children or adolescents, parents play an integral role in treatment.
Our aim is to help patients work towards finding balance in their lives — whether that be with managing strong emotions, unhelpful thinking patterns, behavioral urges, or the demands of everyday life, such as school, work, relationships, etc.
